The owners don´t speak English. Rooms haven´t key for locking the doors. The bathrooms don´t work properly and you only have a fan per room. The breakfast is not enough because there are too much people for having breakfast (share breakfast).

Owners don´t have a criteria for establishing prices and if you sleep more than 2 days they don´t know when you are going to get out, it means they are always answering you when are you going to leave the room, and how many beds are free (because the don´t know anything).

They can open the doors when they want for using mobiles, when you are sleeping or whenever want. The last day that I slept there, we saw its dog in the house...

Definitevly the worst place in which I have slept...

I arrived at Andy's Guest House...and where that name comes from I don't know...it's a hostel and a fairly run down one at that...I arrived on Saturday around 6pm. Upon arrival I had intended to utilize my credit card, I was told that was impossible since they were having problems. Instead of suggesting I give them some collateral to insure I did pay with a credit card I was told I had to pay with cash or I could not stay...as I was waiting for a cash transfer to my bank, I was not pleased with this situation. One of the main reasons I had chosen this location was the availability of using credit cards. I asked if I could pay with the credit card later and due to language barrier problems this was never fully dealt with.

I was then shown to my "room"...a 4 bunk bed corner with an accordion type room divider that could not be locked and to ensure air movement would have needed to be left open. This "room" opened into a hallway and a large window. There was a large cupboard type thing that took up the space between the beds and no where for bags to really be placed since the beds were too low to the floor for anything to be put under them. The air conditioning that the site said was available was a small desk fan and the building had no internet availability or lockers.

After complaining I was shown to the another location, however, again no air conditioning and I was over charged and told that they could not return the amount. I had been charged for a 6 person female only and now was in 8 person mixed room. Air conditioning here was a ceiling fan...that seemed to always be turned off at night even though the room was stiflingly hot.

Breakfast was satisfactory, but certainly not what the site promised..I don't know who Andy is, but he/she is certainly not on location at the premises and I saw NO ONE cooking pasta...where that idea came from is total crap. I expected some type of quaint bed and breakfast and that was certainly not what Andy's Guest House is...cheap hostel. The sheets were clean, bathrooms smelled like mildew and the shower was big enough to almost turn around in. The showers were hot, but really the cold water, which was actually more difficult to get turn on in the shower is really what you want after a long day traveling in the heat of Rome.

Internet was not available until Monday evening and it is turned off at 11pm when the guys in charge of the hostel go to bed. This is not at all stated in their page. The internet is the computer the guys use, so you are at their mercy.

One of the guys, of three, is in charge and he is not available to answer questions or deal with problems. I saw him twice in 4 days and he never did resolve the problems I had.

All in all this hostel was more problems than it was worth. I have stayed in accommodations that appear more "student-y" and are much more pleasant. There was no amicable spirit between travelers. The guys in charge were not very helpful if you had questions - I.e.: suggestions where to eat, where is the ice cream place mentioned on their website, how to get places, etc. Pub crawls??? yeah right - nothing organized. And the under 35 requirement - 3 of the people in my room were well over 35 and were asleep by 10 pm which caused some problems since I needed to pack my bag to leave the next morning. Further, although reasonably close to the Colosseum - 1.5 miles, and a 10 minute walk from Termini Station, the location is not particularly safe for single women traveling alone. It is in a run down section and although I did walk alone at night, I did not feel extremely happy with the situation. Had I known the location was not in such a "good" area I would have stayed elsewhere. I would not stay at this location in the future.

If you choose to stay here, be aware of the problems, and that it is truly a student hostel. Be prepared for very little service, no frills, and not what the website promises. The mattresses were reasonably comfortable and the place was reasonably clean.
