San Lorenzo is in fact considered the university district of Rome. Indeed, close to its territory is the University of Rome "La Sapienza", which, with its 148,000 subscribers [3], is the largest university in Europe. The massive influx of students has led to a significant increase in the nightlife in the area with the opening of restaurants, pizzerias, pubs and clubs. Basilica of San Lorenzo outside the walls, in Piazzale del Verano - Church of the fourth century and the Patriarchal Basilica. The parish was established on 4 July 1709 by Decree of the Cardinal Vicar of Gaspare Carpegna "De cuiuslibet statuta." Results from two churches of different eras and the subsequent massive restructuring ordered by Pope Honorius III in the thirteenth century. The original church was built in the fourth century by Constantine the tomb of the martyr Lorenzo, a victim of persecution of Valerian in 258. Porta Tiburtina, originally built by the monumental arch Augusto in 5 BC to permit the passage above the road of the three aqueducts dell'Aqua Marcia, and Iulia Tepula from Porta Praenestina (Porta Maggiore). The arch, which was inserted into the walls built by the Aureliano starting in 271 BC, is travertine pillars Tuscania and has the keys to be ornate bucrani (decorative trim in the shape of a skull of ox). | | Directions | From the airport Is well connected to both Roman airports by car: Ciampino (about 30 minutes) and Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" (about 1 hour).
